Since it seems to be the thing to do since the announcement regarding LJ, here's a bit on the status of my LJ. I'm not going on IJ or JF or anything. Just cause (Well, I have reasons, but they're not important here). I am going to be backing up my journal regularly, though. I'd love to find some way to back up the comments, as some of the best stuff on my journal is in the comments section.
The episode reviews are all on my website, www.allaboutbuffy.net.
My Spuffy fanfics are being archived at both The Spuffy Realm and The Bloodshedverse.
"Murphy's Law" isn't being archived anywhere else...so whoops. But all fics are on my hard drive as Word docs. And if something does happen to LJ, "Murphy" will be posted on my website. No biggie.
With few exceptions, all my meta is in text files on my hard drive. As mentioned, the biggest loss if LJ were to somehow suddenly disappear would be all the fantastic comments they prompted.
So that's about it, I believe. I don't think LJ's gonna mysteriously vanish soon or anything. If anything, it'll die a slow death unless its users realize that a website this large can't survive off happy thoughts (Money, people. There's a reason decent, bannerless free webhosting died. It made no money. LJ is no different). But it's apparently heretical to think of LJ as a commercial company rather than a hippie commune that survives on the positive thoughts of its drugged up residents.
