- I have no problem with profanity.

- I have no problem with people hating on Angel - or any other character (but especially Angel cause I fucking hate that guy)

- I do have a problem with other fans being treated to "Fuck you you fucking piece of shit." & "Who the fuck are you, a special snowflake who spends their time at Blood Roses forum?" in an open post without a cut.

You're not just cussing out a commercial reviewer. You're cussing out any person reading your LJ who likes Bangel. You know that at least one person reading did feel attacked by it because they commented to tell you as such. EDIT: Removed link to and comment from a locked post.

- The initial comment in response contained no insults, neither did any of the responses to that comment. You'll also note, that comment doesn't mention profanity or Angel-hate.

It's easy to remember only the B/A fans who bash us and Spuffy/Spike/Buffy. They are noisy and difficult to avoid at times. It makes it tempting to lash out. But there are a lot of really lovely B/A fans (most, I’d dare to guess), some of whom are on my f-list, and the fact that they think Buffy and Angel are/were a great ship does not mean they are bad fans or “watched the show wrong.” They are good fans, and they love Buffy and Angel together. That is what’s right for them.

This is your journal and I mean no disrespect. But telling people to fuck themselves and calling them pieces of shit does not contribute to the discussion in a constructive way. Especially in this instance towards Mark, whose thoughts on S3 B/A were not even explored before preemptively flipping him off.

I'd also like to add that incredibly smart people are capable of liking Bangel. Liking Bangel =/= unthinking stupidity or the inability to analyze text or think critically of the show. They have not been suckered in or fooled into liking a narrative arc that is simply not your cuppa. They just like something different than the people who enjoy Spuffy.

I get tired of "if you like x, then you're stupid" arguments. I see that enough with SPN ("if you like Sam, it's only because the writers tricked you into thinking he's not an abusive misogynist!" Like, whatever, dudes).

None of these comments are abusive or insulting or shaming.

- I further have issue with private messages sent to you in good faith and in an attempt to reconcile being alluded to and twisty quoted from on your public tumblr account. Especially before any attempt is made to individually respond to said private messages.



- This post will likely make me look petty and wankful, but I don't really care. I'm tired allowing you to frame the narrative of what happened, and I'd like to take the opportunity to present my side, as well as the side of the other well-meaning people who have been involved.

We've (the people who initially commented to agree with aerintine) been described, publicly, as dogpiling, bullying, harassing, humiliating, etc. Thus far, I've been resigned to leaving that be the final word because any public move I make would just make me an actual bullying jerk. The latest tumblr post and response to an anon question compel to me at least air another take, rather than let the record stand that you were "attacked" and "insulted" when no such thing occurred.

I am turning off comments on this post because I'd rather it not become an outpouring of support from people on my flist, which inevitably ends with eilowyn being demonized and dragged through the mud. I've been trying to avoid this since the beginning. Anybody and everybody is free to PM me if they're so inclined, and people are more than welcome to respond with a public post of their own, of course. And, also of course, people are free to go, "Huh" and go on about their happy fannish business. Whatever works for you.
