I'm posting this one early as I don't know what my schedule's gonna be like tomorrow.
So, Goodbye, Iowa! I know everybody's been looking forward togetting over with this one!
Forgive the lack of graphic. I'm still on my netbook and don't have access to the image I made as my computer's still being a jerk and not working. Imagine, if you will, an image of Riley being sweaty with the episode number (4.14) and title (Goodbye, Iowa) over it.

1. I utterly failed to put this on the last poll, so cast your mind back to The I in Team. Specifically, the sexy Buffy/Riley part. How does that scene stack up for you in terms of hotness? (1 = Not at all hot; 10 = OMG SO FREAKING HOT!)

2. The old woman that Riley pulls a gun on in Willy's bar: Human?
3. Some have suggested that Riley's early attraction to Buffy being strong and showing leadership ability was programmed into him by Maggie Walsh so that he'd obey her. What say you?
4. This seems an appropriate time. Which of the Initiative soldiers do you like best?

People think Walsh programmed Riley's preferences like that?? Ooh, I've never heard that, and it's very interesting. Do we have canon confirmation that she was able to program him mentally, though? I though she only "programmed" him physically, like with steroids. Heh, I don't like Walsh, I don't like Adam, and I don't like Riley, and so I don't remember anything!
Eh, I meant whichever way works for you. If you like so-and-so best cause of the pretty, then go for it.

rofl!
We get Adam mentioning that Maggie "created" Riley, whatever that means. I don't know that we get any canon confirmation of his personality being altered, though. I think it was just something that viewers at the time threw out there as speculation, but I find it amusing. :)
And #3? Huh?
WASSUP?
1. A little heat, but nowhere near enough to convince me.
2. Old woman in that sort of a bar? Not very likely to be human. I went for general demon, but thinking about it now, I wonder if she's the nice old vampire lady who runs the tea-room in the dump?
3. I don't think Maggie was able to condition Riley mentally like that, but it's possible he had imprinted on strong women.
4. Forrest is pretty enough, but all the Initiative boys are pretty boring really.
5. I gave it three stars, which may have been a bit generous. It was an OK ep devoted to furthering the season arc - in a season in which all the best episodes were a lot more stand-alone.
4. *nods*
5. *nods again*
Riley's definitely the nicest of the Initiative boys, but Forrest has the highest entertainment value, so I voted for him.
2. I thought the writers were trying to imply she was human, but I could see demon too. Wouldn't it be ironic if she was some kind of mass murderer?
3. I think Maggie was relying on the drugs and the chip.
4. Is it bad that I prefer Graham to Riley? He seemed like a pretty decent guy.
5. Three stars, but I think one of 'em is charity.
2. Ironic...and AWESOME.
4. Terrible. Absolutely terrible. How dare you!
5. It is. This is a two star episode.
Don't make me choose! They're all so dreamy!
It's so hard to convey sarcasm through a tickybox choice, but I feel like I've accomplished it here. :)
It truly is.
I especially black-out whenever Adam comes on screen. My eyes glaze over.

rofl!
This episode is so dull I probably only watched it once and really just... don't remember any of it. Old woman? Bwuh?
I have absolutely no memory of this scene! But looking at the shooting script to refresh my memory, it says she's "a drunk, but no demon," ergo: human.
Some have suggested that Riley's early attraction to Buffy being strong and showing leadership ability was programmed into him by Maggie Walsh so that he'd obey her.
o_O
People say this? Weird. Also, eww.
Apparently, not many people do. :)

Yes! I chose the correct answer!
Three-and-a-half inch floppies like Adam's data port were already long obsolete by the time this episode aired.
This is the last time we ever see the charming Willy. The Alibi Room doesn't seem the same without him.
Well, of course. That's why he'd stick them in there and they'd NEVER COME OUT. He's recycling.
1. I went with 3. Aesthetically they looked good together, and the slow motion was supposed to engender a sense of "whoa, hot" in me, but the bottom line was I never thought Riley was personally magnetic, so it was like a romance novel cover - pretty but nothing of substance underneath.
2. She was in Willy's, a demon bar. So if she wasn't a vampire, she was probably a demon.
3. That's...quite the stretch. Imma go with "no way."
4. Graham. He seemed...uncomplicated. Refreshingly uncomplicated. And I'm kinda surprised Buffy never got a ping at that time when she was near him - he has a low forehead, broad-almost-bulky through the shoulders...and his hair stuck straight up. I mean, Angel much?
5. Two stars. When they start gearing up the B/R, I sort of zone out on the episodes. *shrugs*
Yeah, Graham seems more like her type than Riley... but Graham + Buffy = Gruffy, which sounds like she's dating a crime dog.
I completely agree on #1. Aesthetically it's a good scene and the camera work is effective, but Riley might as well be a mannequin.
I confess, I kind of like Gruffy. They could fight crime together! LOL
I KEEP EVERYBODY ON THEIR TOES!!!
4. rofl! I'd never thought of that.
It's all I think about whenever I see a scene with Buffy and Graham. The guy playing him was worse at acting then DB during BtVS s1.
2. Demon-never occurred to me she might be human.
3.Never thought of it. Honestly, I can't remember a whole lot of this episode. Not on my frequent re-watch list. There must have been a good Spike part though. You'd think I'd at least remember that!
4. Riley, just because we knew him. And Forrest turned out to be a butthead.
5. One star. The helicopter chase just irritates the hell out of me.
5. There's a helicopter chase? I don't recall that...
3. I'd never heard that particular theory, but it would make some sense.
4. I really liked Graham. I wish we'd gotten to see more of him. I wanted to like Forrest (because, let's face it, Leonard Roberts is pretty hot), but wow he was annoying.
*G*
2-Not a vamp but really not sure whether she's a demon or not but Willy's never seemed like a place that a human would hang out... unless she's a demon/vampire groupie.
3-Not programmed into, but he would have needed to demonstrate the willingness to follow orders without question to join in Initiative, and Maggie would have certainly exploited that fact.
4-Graham returns eventually and takes Riley with him!!! I never thought any of them were anything close to dreamy.
5-This episode is slightly watchable, but the momentary scene with Tara and the quips of the Spike along with finally letting us in on what/who Adam is makes it a 3.
That the sex wasn't eluded to? Why would it be?
2. Oooh! Maybe she's an older lady hoping to get vamped so she can live forever!
She could be some new vamp's mum, checking up on her kid. :)
Anyway, I went with 'human.' Haven't got a rationalisation, it just looks that way to me.
Re: the old lady... she seemed genuinely scared of Riley and the gun to me. Which means demon or human, I think.
Yeah, I didn't expect there would be. :)
*blows raspberry at Briley*
I actually like this episode! The cuteness and hilarity of the gang hiding in Xander's basement, and Spike being all "what? Hostile 17? Never heard of him" and Riley having his FREAK-OUT and 'maybe I'm the bad guy' moment. But then I like Riley, so seeing him hurt Willow (>:) and have his realignment angst is interesting to me.
Also, I love "I'm an anarchist". It's this fun hero one-liner, but SUCH A LIE. Oh Riley, you want it to be true but you are SUCH an inside-the-lines kind of guy. *pats him*
Anyway, I'd like this episode more if Adam weren't in it. Dude bores me.
*nods*
Why'd they always pair up tiny SMG with huge, hulking behemoth dudes?
2. She's one of those giant phallic monsters from Doublemeat Palace, they all look like old women.
3. Maggie can be a bit regressive, but I don't think she'd assume that she's the only strong woman Riley would ever meet.
4. Riley, though Graham is underrated. I don't mean attractiveness. (I don't swing that way, but if I did, none of those three would be hits.)
5. Yeah, this is a great episode with the zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. And the zzzzzz. It has that great Road Runner exchange:
BUFFY: That would never happen.
WILLOW: That's why they're called cartoons, Buffy, and not documentaries.
Does this have the bit where Anya suggests Buffy should get a boring boyfriend, like Xander, and then says she can't have Xander? Haha, classic. Anyway, two stars.
5. rofl!

It totally does! I think the Scooby Basement Funtimes is worth at least a star.
2. I only vaguely remember this scene, but I do remember thinking she must have been a vampire to be in Willy's in the first place.
3. I have never heard of this theory and do not ascribe to it.
4. Graham. Mostly because he's not a raving putz.
5. 2 stars. Mostly because I don't think I've ever given a 1 to a Buffy episode.
4. I didn't care for any of them much, but I guess that Forest was the most interesting of the three? He at least showed a spark of charisma at times, even if he WAS annoying, but then the other two reminded me of cavemen. The actors both had such flat and wooden line deliveries as well. Oops is that too mean :P
5. 2 stars, a very boring couple of episodes
This face? Riley looks like such a doof there, it throws me out of the scene.
