Cheatin' on the Buffyverse yo!

Okay, let me set explain the score here. I started reading the Harry Potter series when there were only three books out. I joined the nascent fandom that existed for it at that time, and I stayed involved until some time after Goblet of Fire was released. During that huge gap between Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix, I'd dropped out of fandom - as happens - and got distracted by other stuff. I still read every book as it came out, but I'd only read Books 5-7 once as opposed to the multiple upon multiple times I read Books 1-4.

I also haven't seen any of the movies past Prisoner of Azkaban. Maybe I saw Goblet of Fire. I don't remember. I vastly preferred the books, and, while I don't actively dislike the movies, I'm largely indifferent to them.

So I've decided to give the books a reread cause, hey, it's been a while. I just finished up Book 5 and am starting on Book 6. Now, my disjointed and random collection of thoughts so far

1. I'd forgotten how much I love Hermione and Lupin. They were my two favorite characters the first time I read the books. They're still my favorite characters. Though I was one of those people who was mispronouncing Hermione's name up until the fourth book. Heh.

2. It's been nice to read Books 5-7 at a more leisurely pace. As is probably common of HP fans, I tended to read the newly released books as soon as they came out. In one...long...sitting. Good times, but it's not so good as far as actually absorbing and remembering what's happening. As it is, prior to my reread, I could probably detail some major events of Book 5, but I couldn't begin to tell you specifically what happened in Books 6 and 7. I had a general, fuzzy recollection of the main gist of everything, but nothing more substantial than that.

3. Also, I found this awesome post (with follow-up) in the midst of my reread. It makes me happy. I ♥ Hermione.

4. Wowie, I've heard it said but I really couldn't recall, but yeah, JK could have used some editing on Book 5. I'm assuming Books 6 and 7 will be much the same. Lovely story but the pacing dragged and some stuff should have been left out. Book 4, despite its size, held up well, though.

5. Haha! I love Ron being the thing Harry would miss most in Book 4. His "Wheezy"! Oh, bless.

6. I actually rather like Krum and Hermione at this point. I recall shipping Ron/Hermione the first time through, and I still do, but Ron's not working for me as well this time around. I like what we see of Krum's kinda glowery-yet-sensitive personality and the fact that he notices Hermione cause she's studying in the library all the time. He digs nerd! Damned if I can recall what happens to him, though. I know that Hermione/Ron end up together, and that's cool, but I don't remember what happens to Krum (or if we're even told what happens to him).

7. JK writes adolescent boys well. Harry's properly angsty and moody. Plus, you know, traumatized and whatnot.

Now! Here's where I ask for help cause I have no clue where to look for fanfic. Lemme just list off what I'm interested in and I'll see what you throw at me. No worries about spoilers. I've read the whole series. I just may not remember everything, so stuff set within the first 5 books would be easiest for me to dive into.

Characters: McGonagall, Grubbly-Plank, Lupin, Cho, Dobby

Pairings: Hermione/Krum, Hermione/Ron, Harry/Ron, Harry/Ron/Hermione, Luna/Ginny
