Hey guys! My double test day is over with so now I can finally do this poll I've been sitting on! Recent discussions have me curious about the general shape of Spuffy fandom right now as it pertains to Spike's soul status. So let's poll this bad boy. I've included a separate question for non-Spuffy fans, just for inclusiveness and comparison's sake.
For the purposes of this poll, you are a Spuffy fan if you consider yourself a Spuffy fan. I think the poll is pretty self-explanatory other than that. The first question may be tricky if you get hung up on, "Well, it didn't happen in canon, so..." but the basic gist is if you think their canon characterizations make such a relationship viable, despite the fact that canon events didn't quite pan out that way.
If you're a Spuffy fan, skip the second question. If you're not a Spuffy fan, skip the first question. Comment and discuss. Be awesome. Go!

FOR SPUFFY FANS: Do you think a productive romantic relationship between Buffy and unsouled Spike is feasible in canon?
FOR EVERYBODY ELSE: Do you think a productive romantic relationship between Buffy and unsouled Spike is feasible in canon?
Do you enjoy reading fanfic that pairs Buffy up with an unsouled Spike? Assume we're talking good quality fanfic here.

No, not really. It was more me, who wrote something when I really should have gone to bed, sorry.
What I meant to say, was that unsouled Spike had huge history of a atrocities against people. That even if he truly loved Buffy, which I think he did in his way, or as Drusilla said "Oh, we can, you know. We can love quite well... if not wisely"
That makes it hard for me to see, that Buffy could fall in love with a mass-murder.
So out from this, could Angel logical say, that he had no part of what Angelus did, but he has all memories of Angelus, and what are we if not the sum of our memories?.
See evt. from the Atpbtvs site Deconstructing Angel
Now, you can posit that not having a soul is a dealbreaker. I'd tend to agree with that sentiment, though I think this dealbreaker originates in her experiences with Angel more than anything else.
I think like Buffy, that what Angelus did, Angel can't be blamed for. That Giles perhaps can see the logic in that, but not emotionally (very understandably), is that what Angelus did can't be blame Angel.
So yes, I agree with Buffy, the soul is the deal breaker
