Some people on my flist indicate that it's More Joy Day. I'm not sure exactly what that means, but I know something that brings me lots of joy...
Spuffy door!sex!

Are you drowning or waving?
I just want you to save me.
Should we try to get along?

While driving today, I was thinking about the point when Buffy fell in love with Spike. I was sure that even though the seeds were definitely sewn, it wasn't s6. But then I thought about this scene, and the way she just caresses the door with her gloved fingers, wanting but not wanting to want...it's not just despair driving her right then.
Aaaand then you posted a pic of it and I think I should take it as a sign that I might be right.

I don't believe Buffy processed the idea of being in love with him in s6. Probably didn't even occur to her. I think 'being in love' is something you go through on a higher plane of thought and you're very right - she's not all there that season, certainly not in a place where she can even think in terms of being in love.
But on an instinctual level, she's drawn to him. Even when she was Joan, her instinct was to protect him and go with him. So while the words "in love with Spike" probably weren't in her headspace (understandably, since s6 was about her depression and NOT about what relationship she was in), I do think it was in her gut, deep down on that instinctive level. Like an animal sensing its mate. :)
is my opinion.
That is fact.
OH MY HEART.
The only thing that spoils the scene for me is the fact that they are, actually, touching different doors.

That pretty much summarizes my undying love for this moment.
On the other hand, as far as this scene goes, I'd say it is a continuity error, since we're clearly meant to perceive them as touching the same door. Don't mind me, I'm just doing a bit of nitpicking. :)
